1. Identify the main character of the story and describe each of the character?
Amanda Bartolome(Vilma Santos)- a woman trying to track and understand the true meaning of being a woman in the middle of the complex situation of the country in the '70s under martial law. He was acting as a mother (with five children purely male) and wife according to the dictates of society and her husband Julian (Christopher de Leon)
Julian Bartolome(Christopher De Leon)-is husband of Amanda Bartolome with their five sons.Julian is an engineer. He was a great hasendero from the North. He has Spanish race. Kind and responsible father and husband. He believes in the saying "It's a man's world."
Jules Bartolome(Piolo Pascual)-Jules was born in Bartolome siblings. He was a good boy. He's active in his school activities. Intelligent as he played the guitar. When he was only a child he was aware what is happening to his environment. He had strong belief (paninindigan). He also joined the movement. In the movement he met Mara who became his wife. In the novel, Jules usually revolves around political issues. Jules describes a student with strength in order to condemn the national issues that contradict the things he believed. He also shows being an activist or rebel at that time.
Emmanuel Bartolome(Marvin Agustin)- Em is the third Bartolome brothers. He was kind and brightest of all. Many who visited the seminar. Em is a great writer. They may uniformity mind of Jules in the political aspects, which differ only way they used to show their feelings. Em shows the character of the personage of one to Jules, that was just not radical. He is a mere child may tamper with his around the simple way he has shown and not the vulgar way.
Isagani Bartolome(Carlos Agassi)- Gani is the second of Bartolome brothers. He is good boy. He opened early in the matters relating to the "opposite sex" who he married so early. He became the wife Evelyn and Anna Lissa also became their fruit. Gani was entered in the U.S. Navy. And he migrated in the United States. They become difficult to communicate with Evelyn so they parted. Gani's character shows a child with colonial mind. He thought that the oppotunity is there just seen. Conversely's with Jules.
Jason Bartolome(Danilo Barrios)- Jason is the fourth Bartolome brothers. He importunate. He believes that Amanda's favorite animal is cat. He is thoughtful. Julian Favorites him. He was lazy to learn and keen shirk. He was also fond of woman. He also caught authority using marihuana. Jason is a picture of a child "happy-go-lucky" and because of peer pressure is wrong path.
Benjamin Bartolome(John Wayne Sace)- Bingo is the youngest of the brothers Bartolome. He was naughty. He was also wary of what is happening.
Willy(Jhong Hilario)- He's best friend of Jules. They both with strong belief (paninindigan) . He was also involved in the movement. Willy died in an encounter because of this Jules was much more rebellious.
a. Man versus man
Opposed by Jules and PC Metrocom and man against man for a physical battle occurred.
b. Man versus Himself
Amanda against itself because there are things she wants to do but he does not because Julian and because it upholds the community he lives.
